Icefall - Maligne Canyon

"Icefall - Maligne Canyon" 42" x 28" Acrylic on Canvas 2006 ($725.00) Maligne Canyon provides an interesting walk at any time of year. It is in Jasper N.P., the trailhead just down the road from Jasper Park Lodge. A series of bridges traverse the Canyon giving the visitor a unique view of how water forms canyons. In winter the crowds are small to non-existant and the ice makes a wonderful vision of arrested water. This painting, while true in shape and dimensions to the original, is more about patterns than perspective. But, nonetheless, I still have an interest in the natural. The tiny evergreens, grass, and other plant life seemingly growing out of rock never ceases to astound me.
