Gone! But Not Forgotten
Cirque Peak
Cirque Peak 28"x42" 2005 SOLD
This peak, rich in colour, red and yellow oxides, rises above a little tarn called Helen Lake. The picturesque lake is full of small fish, the water comes from run-off from Cirque Peak. I have a photo of Helen with Cirque Peak behind taken in July. The lake is frozen, and the mountain is snow covered, It's the end of a wonderful hike through a beautiful flower laden meadow after a long climb across a mountain side on the east side of the Bow River. The trailhead is just across from the observation parking lot for the Crow Foot Glacier. It is on the trail to Dolomite Pass and near Dolomite Mountain, so named for its resemblance to the Dolomite Mountains in Switzerland. I was there this summer on a cloudless day. It has lost none of its beauty. The peak is also easily accessible to scamblers.
