Gone! But Not Forgotten
Dolomite Peak
DOLOMITE PEAK 24" X 36" 2006 Acrylic on Canvas SOLD
Dolomite Peak is a wonder one sees on the Helen Lake/Dolomite Pass hike in Banff National Park. The trailhead is across the road from the Crow Foot Glacier turnout on the Icefields Parkway. The vantage point in the painting is obviously above the treeline after a longish hike across beautiful meadows to Helen Lake and a further 15 minute hike up a ridge over Helen Lake on the way to Dolomite Pass. The Peak is so called after the Dolomite Range in the Swiss Alps; this mountain reminding the early Swiss guides of their homeland. In the Painting Gallery there is a picture entitled Cirque Peak. Dolomite is but a head turn away. The colouring is very similar, though not as intense as that around Cirque Peak.
