LEFT BEHIND 40" x 60" 2006 Acrylic on Canvas SOLD No, I'm not trying to be Robert Bateman...a wildlife painter I'm not. In fact, the animal is not wildlife - it's a sled dog "left behind" (and tied to the tree) while the rest of the team is out on the trail. He (or she) wasn't accepting his/her fate gracefully. The barking and whining was unending. The setting is the beautiful woods of the magnificent Chateau Montebello located on the grounds of an historic seigneurie in Quebec along the Ottawa River near, naturally, Montebello. The time is mid-afternoon, although between Christmas and New Year's, the shadows lengthen, even by 3 pm. Always worth a visit.
