Gone! But Not Forgotten
High Fliers
"High Flyers" 24" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas 2008 (SOLD) Do I mean the trees or the clouds? Both, I guess. In this part of the world, fall colour comes mainly from birch and aspen trees - a glorious golden orange often set against the deep green of spruce trees. These very tall, thin aspens got this way by growing up in dense bush, the tops seeking the sun, and bottom branches dropping off in the shade. The bush was then cut, leaving these beauties exposed against a brilliant autumn sky. For folk in Prince George, they stand on the north edge of a clear cut on Tyner Blvd. on the way to the University. The leaves are gone now (Oct. 30).
