Trumpeting Spring - Cluculz Creek, BC

"Trumpeting Spring - Cluculz Creek, BC" 28" x 42" Acrylic on Canvas 2006 (SOLD) Cluculz Creek lies about 50 kms west of Prince George and runs into a large bay in Cluculz Lake. Much of the year it can be a virtually dry creek. In the spring, it has water in it, though it is somewhat shallow, allowing it to melt, even before the March 21st date of spring. Therefore it is visited by trumpter swans on their annual migration north early in spring (or late in winter) along with Bohemian waxwings and robins. They herald spring in a northern climate that sometimes despairs of its arrival. I photographed them just about on the vernal equinox after a quite warm late winter.
